Kristen Van Hauen
Kristen is an Iowa native who just couldn't deny her drive to move to California! San Francisco was calling her, she moved when she was 23 and lived there for 3 years. After missing the small city life (not having to park 1 mile away from a restaurant) she decided to move back and landed in Des Moines. She grew her business for 5 years and opened Blondies Beauty Parlor with Monica Caligiuri in 2005.
"We felt Des Moines at the time was missing a Big City Salon. Meaning a lot of salons 5 1/2 years ago focused so much on being pretty that they forgot the funky. Our clients are anyone from a young 20 yr old that has purple hair to 50 somethings that live south of grand who have an appreciation for the artist that we are."

. . . she LOVES being one of the co-creators and now owner of Blondies Beauty Parlor. It is her life's work. At times she often forgets she has a home life she is so dedicated to her salon and work as an artist!

#1 - Run a great business for stylists to grow and learn the skills to carry them through their entire careers.
#2 - To continue my personal growth as a platform artist and be able to travel the states and the world motivating and educating stylists to be the best they can be.

- Works very hard to make time for her hubby and her son Leonidas
- Anything hair related, loves doing makeup still (even though she said she retired her kit)
- Her LOVE for dogs is unbelievable! In what little spare time this girl has you will find her rescuing dogs and taking them to the shelter to be reunited with there owners or finding them a new home
- Motorcycles of any way shape or form, if they run she will ride it! Especially Harley Road Kings!
- Loves to help different causes raise money through using her craft

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 515-243-1766. Our front desk coordinators work Tuesday through Saturday mornings. At all other times, appointment requests can be left for your individual stylist on our voice mail system.
